PlayCraft Powertoon Xtreme 2700 IO

Vroom Vroom and an abundance of luxuriously equipped room.

Party girl meets track star in the Powertoon Xtreme 2700. This tritoon has room for more than a dozen people to relax, yet it packs performance punch thanks to a 430 hp 8.2L Mercury MAG HO ECT under the sun pad, coupled with a Bravo III drive. Mash the throttle to the dash, and this boat races to nearly 55 mph.

PlayCraft’s design includes RAC-R-FINS — which are essentially strakes that are double-welded onto the pontoons — to add lift. Wings are also added to the front of the pontoons to knock down spray, and the nose of each is beefed up with extra aluminum to prevent oil-canning. The center “log” is also slightly longer than those on either side, which helps the Xtreme 2700 IO handle more like a V-hull boat. When we cranked the wheel over at high speeds, we didn’t get that slip-sliding feeling, and the slight chop we encountered during our test didn’t squelch our desire to run full tilt.

After the race has been won, kick back and enjoy features like the plush 28-ounce diamond-pattern marine carpet, overstuffed upholstery and movable armrest/cup holders. The feeling is downright posh — which is something that’ll be appreciated by both party girls and athletes alike.
