Cypress Cay Seabreeze 250

It’s hard not to go into total relaxation mode the minute you step aboard Cypress Cay’s Seabreeze 250, especially when it’s outfitted in the brand’s inviting SL floor plan. In this layout, a single oversize lounger dominates the boat’s stern half. On our test boat, this 18-square-foot sun bed was trimmed in a rich, triple-tone vinyl and featured reclining, aft-facing backrests forward, with upright backrests along the stern perimeter fence. Stretch out and relax, or invite some friends for a little face-to-face conversation. Below, the entire bed lifts to reveal a single oversize storage compartment, ready to swallow an abundance of gear. Or, add the optional privacy enclosure. It’s far bigger than the norm, ensuring you won’t feel like you’re in a cramped phone booth. In front of this giant recliner sits a comfy, midships couch. The boat’s forward half features the traditional, 6-foot-long parallel lounges with a removable pedestal table ready for cocktail hour. Exposed, roto-molded seat bases offer low-maintenance storage below and are expertly matched to the vinyl color above.

Don’t feel like taking a snooze cruise? Take the helm and firewall the throttle. With a fuel-efficient Mercury 150 four-stroke on the stern, the Seabreeze leveraged onto plane in just 3.5 seconds, hit 30 mph in 9.1, and topped out at 38.4 mph. Aiding the cause was Cypress Cay’s aptly named Performance Package. It adds a third pontoon to the mix, as well as lifting strakes, a partial aluminum underskin to cover exposed cross members and reduce drag, a speedometer and Cypress’ rough-water package, which consists of upgraded cross members and reinforced noses and spray deflectors on all three pontoons. The result is decreased planing time, an improved hole shot and top speed, and a more controlled ride without sacrificing stability.

If that sounds like a boat that will work well for water sports, you’re right. To that end, our boat featured an optional ski pylon and a standard three-step aft boarding ladder. Suggestion? Opt up to vinyl flooring aft: It’s a better alternative than carpet.
