Three-hundred-and-ten horsepower, a motocross influence, and a touring model with an onboard sound system highlight Kawasaki's 2014 Jet Ski line, introduced this morning in San Diego.
Five of the six-model lineup utilize Kawasaki's popular Ultra platform, four of which now feature an upgraded 310 horsepower. That number again keeps Kawasaki on top in the horsepower battle. Many of the same engine tweaks that upped that power also contribute to greater reliability.
Joining the existing X model — now dubbed the Ultra 310X — are a special edition 310 X SE, the Ultra 310R (featuring motocross-inspired seat and handlebars), and the Ultra 310 LX. It's this latter craft that gets that industry-first sound system, with 30-watt speakers built into the console, linked to a 2 x 20 watt amplifier. Sound controls are integrated into the handlebar pad. A waterproof bag allows an iPhone or iPod to be added and stored in the glovebox; there's also a waterproof case for a USB memory stick.
Two existing boats return unchanged, the Ultra LX and the STX-15F.
