Twenty-one-foot bass boats have always been noted for safe, stable rides in rough water, but they seem to lack the speed and performance that tournament anglers need to compete at the highest level.

Boatbuilder Earl Bentz has designed a magnum-size rig, Triton’s 21HP, which delivers the high performance and top-end speed competitive anglers count on to fish expansive bodies of water. Topping out at 77 mph, the 21HP also performed tight turns and delivered a smooth ride at cruising speed.

A tour of this rig reveals a front-panel livewell control with recirculation and pump-out, so the angler never has to leave the bow to adjust the settings. Unique stowage features, evident throughout this boat, include the rod locker with slots for 14 rods up to 8 feet long, as well as a slanted ramp for easily sliding the reel ends of the rods in and out of the holders. The front deck also features a second rod locker with a tray for tools and other necessities, a roomy centerline storage box with slots for holding up to nine Plano 3700 utility boxes, and a built-in ice chest in the front-deck step.

A handy feature for night anglers is the LED lighting in all the storage compartments. Another convenient storage item is the removable 12-quart Igloo cooler located in the compartment underneath the fold-down center seat.
