They Cast: The Laguna B-210 SC is an all-inclusive boat, motor, and trailer package that will get you to the fish quickly with a minimum amount of hassle and expense.
We Cast: Need a fast, flexible way to attack both bay and inshore waters? The 21'8"-by-8'6" B-210 SC does the job, and it comes with everything you need to splash the hull at sunrise tomorrow and fish hard. The basics are there: stainless-steel rails, a swim platform, pull-up cleats, hydraulic steering, under-gunwale rodracks, and an aerated livewell. But the B-210 SC's price tag also includes such goodies as a raw-water washdown, second livewell, trolling motor receptacle, 94-quart reversible cooler seat, compass, six vertical rodracks, and most important, a torsion-axle trailer. Plus, the standard powerplant is a top-shelf 150-hp Mercury Verado with digital controls. Add this many upgrades to most boats in this class, and the price will be soaring. Negatives? Several hatches had spring struts, and the console split-door arrangement isn't my favorite because when you pop the latch, the doors swing and bang. But you'll forget this when you throw down the hammer and zoom past 43 mph. The 15-degree transom deadrise provides a ride consistent with most bay boats, and on calm days you'll have no problem running this rig through the inlet. Yet when you tilt up the motor you'll need just 10" to float across the flats.
Another Choice: Cobia's 21 Bay costs about $3,000 less than the Laguna with a F-150 Yamaha outboard, but it's smaller at 21'1-by-8'4", and the price gap disappears when you consider the Laguna 's standard trailer.
