The Hatteras 1510 Club has recently announced a name change to The Hatteras Classic Club. The hope is to broaden our membership to include owners and enthusiasts of all Hatteras Yachts. Not just those with a beam of 15'10', a requirement of the previous club, hence the club's name.
The Hatteras 1510 Club was formed September 2000 by eight members and quickly grew to seventy five. The club eventually reached to just under one hundred members worldwide.
Recently, however as more owners are either getting out of boating or moving in another direction, there are limited numbers of enthusiasts that are willing to devote the time and resources to restore or maintain these lovely vessels.
The club is widely known for its social events that the members enjoy. There is an annual national rendezvous held the weekend after Labor Day. This event is known for the "Boat Open House" where attendees may board the boats to exchange ideas and tips on rehab, maintenance and the like. There are also guest speakers on hand to provide information on restoring and maintaining Hatteras Yachts.
Additionally, throughout the year there is typically a winter rendezvous that is either a gathering of owners in Florida or a Caribbean cruise. There is even a Great Lakes region rendezvous held in the spring or early summer.
Now that the club will be known as the "Hatteras Classic Club", all owners and enthusiasts of all years and models of Hatteras Yachts are encouraged to join this exciting group.
Interested parties are encouraged to check out the website at www.hatterasclassicclub.com. While the club is in transition, the website will contain a combination of past rendezvous information, articles and newsletters as well as information about the new club's mission and a membership application.
