I am a first time boat owner. Just purchased a Hurricane deck boat. Will fish occasionally. Is a trolling motor an absolute requirement?
If I want the trolling motor and fishing chair(s) . . . I have to have them added at extra cost since they did not come on the actual boat I purchased. I'm guessing that the trolling motor is an absolute necessity for successful fishing (manuverability . . . quiet). However, since I'll only fish once in a while I was wondering if fishing without a trolling motor, on a relatively calm lake, was even possible?

No. No accessory is absolutely required. People catch fish out of canoes and from shore all the time...
Now, if you want to sneak around quieter and be able to hold your position better while you cast to lily pads or a submerged stump, the trolling motor will allow you to do that. It will help you to up your odds by allowing yuo to present baits in more ways.
