Slow or fast there is awfully lot of play in steering - bought the boat used 2yrs ago & have a lot of fun with it. Is this something I can fix myself - & how would I go about it? It's an'84 Imperial in/out with a 135hp Mercury motor! Any advice greatly appreciated - thanks

Those who take Microsoft certification courses can go a long way in their career. More and more office settings are beginning to depend on Microsoft products for their various day-to-day operations, and even fields that did not originally have a strong computing base now depend on the computer on a daily basis.

Snaglepus,What kind of steering system do you have ? If you just have exposed cables and pulleys then just tighten up the cables, If you have the new type like a "Rack" or "Rotory" type then you are going to have to replace the whole Rack and cable system, Have someone turn the steering wheel and see when the outdrive moves, you should have MAX 1 in freeplay in either direction on the wheel, do yourself and everybody else a favour and get it fixed right away , if you look on the old cable it should say ######-16 or ######-21 the last # is the length of that cable if you dont see anything , take the cable out carefully and measure it or take it to where you buy a new one and they will order the right length of cable for you, its not a fun job to remove but do it slowly and carefully and good luck Myles :-)
