What are the steps to prep and re-paint a fiberglass hull?
I got my boat last year, and decided to enjoy it before I re-painted it since it is my first boat. That is what this spring is for. It is a 14" Coleman semi-V hull fishing boat, fiberglass. No dents or scratches, I'm just looking to truly make it my boat with my paint job. If anyone has some insight on what steps I need to take to prep it and re-paint it, I would greatly appreciate it.

First thing to do is make sure you use good quality materials, nothing worse than a crappy paint job, wipe the hull with a good dewaxer and change the lint free rags often, then sand with a good quality sandpaper, cheap stuff leaves behind particles of sand, then wipe again again changing the rags often, if you are using a brush (big shivers here) use a good quality one, and follow the directions to the T, if using a sprayer safety first proper breathing for yourself is the most important, same steps as above, mask off areas not being painted (don't use newspapers for this ) use the proper masking paper, the larger areas you can use plastic, and again follow the directions to the T and to tell you the truth this will be and is a big job, if you don't have the proper equipment or the skills to do this find someone who does it will save you a lot of problems, good luck.:-)
