Yup sounds like battery to me, as they charge they give off sulpher, check your water levels in the battery (use safety glasses please) add only distilled water if it needs it ,if its the sealed type you cant add water, also check you altenator output,see thats it's not over charging your battery (hence the smell all of a sudden).

What engine powers your boat. Typically a rotten egg smell occurs as a result of a catalytic converter failing. I am not sure--but I do not believe catalytic converters were found in marine applications in 2004.

Please provide exact engine info

Hey Kevin something that old will not have catalytic converters in the marine industry , they did not develope them till early last year till middle of the year and in the auto industry a rotten egg smell is usually a bad o2 sensor anyways cheers :-)

I realize that Myles ( actually Indmar was producing engines with catalytic converters in 2006; it just became a requirement for some engines as of 2010)

But he could have re-powered after 8 years. At any rate, we need to know the engine to provide a helpful answer.
