If its a steady green light then you are seeing a boat's starboard side ( you should be seeing a white light aft of the green, but bulbs blow and/or someone forgot to turn it on)

If its a blinking or flashing green light then you are seeing an ATON: aid to navigation. Could be a bouy, could be a daymark...your chart will tell you.
