What does one need to do to rename a boat?

First, changing a boat's name is bad luck--at least as legend has it. But if you must, here's the procedure:

1. Gather all your friends and have them write the old name on slips of paper.

2.While chanting the new name to the tune of a sea chanty, like Blow The Man Down, burn the slips of paper with the old name written on them.

3. Now that Neptune is thoroughly appeased, go ahead and plaster that new name and hail on the transom.

BTW--if you were talking about renaming a documented yacht, you'll need to contact the Coast Guard--or one the services that handles just that. Google it up.
