2006 5.7 EFI volvo engine. all electric works,Engine cranks but will not start. It seems the spark cuts out as soon as the engine cranks.
Did you actually pull a plug wire and look for spark? Do that. If you have spark at the plugs, then check the voltage at the fuel pumps. Got that? Then check for a stuck float switch in the vapor separator. Good there? Make sure your tach signal wire(purple)isnt shorted.
Oh, yeah...check the kill switch :)
Thanks Kevin. Checked just about everything except tach signal wire. I don't even know what that is but will check it out. This is an engine that would start religously in about 2 seconds prior to this.
Hey Chris I'm just going to throw this at you, When you turn the key to the on position, does the fuel pump make a whirr sound,as if to fill the fuel system, if not then it's a fuel pump, I just had mine with no warning just stop, all systems work great but will not start,my engine cranks just fine but would not start, just a thought, anyways I'm off to spend $605 for a new fuel pump good luck.
Chris ,be careful with those 5.7 volvo.I have lost both engines, due to water intrusion with less than 125 hours on them.Volvo support has been non-existent.They say it is not their problem, however ,ther is a notification to the dealers RECOMMENDING that the risers be raised four inches.I know thru other websites that others have had the same problem.Volvo admits nothing, and will be zero help.I would NEVER buy a volvo product again.
