They Say: This bowrider has all the room you need and all the style you want.
We Say: Plenty of bowriders these days are stylish, but man, Sea Ray does it right with the 230 Select. The gel coat shines and the graphics are show-stopping cool. Check out the windshield. It looks like a pair of wraparound shades with curved, tinted glass, and it's as thick and beefy as any you'll see in this class. There are more style points in the bow cockpit. The curved coaming bolsters double as armrests for lounging. Sea Ray is, as usual, tops when it comes to engine access. You can reach anything you need, and there are compartments sectioned off from the engine for stowage. Plus, there's a cavernous in-sole locking box for skis or boards. Our test boat had two options that you shouldn't be without. First, go for the flip-up bench seat, which converts the aft sunpad into a rear-facing lounge ($1,154). And second, there's the powerplant: The 350 MAG seemed to be the perfect match for this 32'-by-8' boat.
Who'd Want One: Boaters wanting the style and attitude of a dedicated towboat can outfit the 230 Select with a wakeboard tower ($3,615) and combine pizzazz with family friendliness.
Another Choice: Consider Cobalt's 222.
The Numbers: $54,020.
