Hi, what are 2 or 3 of the best books on heavy weather boating? Thanks!!
Most people I know recomend Chapmans Guides to whatever. But can't verify that from my own knowledge. When I'm out and the weather gets rough I find the nearest bridge or friendly dock to tie up at. Usaully it's a Hooters!!!!!3 answers | answer question

Hard to say. What type of procedures do they have as far as launching if you have been to another body of water? Read an article a little while back about them pressure washing boats after they came out or went in and tagging (zip tys) the winch handle to show proff of cleaning but not sure where this was at.3 answers | answer questionI have a 1994 Scarab with a 502 Mag. In this case SIZE does matter!! How big is your boat? Number 1 is if your steering is loose/ worn get it fixed asap!! Check your federal regs along with your state. 1. In Florida you are 'NOT' allowed to anchor in the traveled portion of the river or channel that will prevent or interfere with any vessel passing through the same area. 2. Operate a vessel that will interfere unnecessarily with the safe operation of other vessels. Homeland Security Restrictions 1. Cannot approach within 100 yards and must slow to min speed within 500 yards of any Navy vessel unless you contact them or the coast gaurd escort vessel . 2. Avoid all security zones and commercial port operation areas ie: cruise lines, ferries, or petroleum facilities. 3. Do not stop or anchor beneath bridges or in the channel. Any time you blow fuses when you turn something on you have a dead short, a trick to try is to increase fuse size some (no more than 5) if circuit blows as soon as turned on its's a dead short. As Kevin said check your wiring good around pumps first most are wrapped together leading to frayed/ cracked wires touching each other.4 answers | answer questioni will be towing a bayliner 192 cuddy with 4.3.using 2011 explorer with tow package going to florida.any advice?
Kevins' got great info for 1. If you have all real tow package you will be good. If it seems to still lug then 'yes' turn off O/D (5th) still allows tcc operation but you will lose a little more than 2 mpg's tho, after you complete your 'over the hill' portion I would reengage O/D. The best thing to do is leave it in O/D until it seems to struggle or cycle (change) in and out of gear alot then cancel O/D.
