Westerbeke Corporation introduces the new 5.5 EGCD marine diesel generator set. Rated 5.5kW at 60Hz, the 5.5 EGCD is engineered to outperform existing models. The unit is powered by a compact, .95 liter, three-cylinder engine operating at a low 1800- rpm for smooth, quiet operation.
Unlike its predecessor, the 5.5 BCD, the 5.5 EGCD offers a belt-driven, 50 amp DC battery charging alternator. In addition, the 5.5 EGCD also incorporates standard electronic governing. The result is cleaner emissions and improved speed control which virtually eliminates “droop” when load is applied or removed. The 5.5 EGCD meets all current EPA emissions requirements.
Additional standard features include overspeed, underspeed, low oil pressure, high exhaust and high coolant temperature safety shutdowns as well as a standard AC circuit breaker. The 5.5 EGCD incorporates a completely new and modernized start/stop and monitoring system. The gauge panel and remote start/stop panel are new, but the physical sizes are the same as the current gauge panel found on the preceding 5.5 BCD. This generator also offers single-side servicing and an optional Sound Guard SST with stainless steel base and frame providing Westerbeke’s famed full access to all sides and top of the unit. The 5.5 EGCD will also fit in the same sound guard as the 5.5 BCD
