The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) released the floorplan for the 2016 Progressive Miami International Boat Show.
As Boating reported earlier, the Miami International Boat Show will no longer be held at the Miami Beach Convention Center nor at the Sealine Marina ( know colloquially as the ” Marriott Marina” to seasoned show goers.). For 2016, NMMA has contracted to have all powerboat displays –in water and land–at one location at the Miami Marine Stadium on Virginia Key.
Boating spoke to NMMA President, Thom Dammrich about the new show location:
Its an opportunity to create something great from scratch. We’ll have more sea trials, more training, and all the ( new) powerboats will be in one venue.
Historically, the Miami Boat Show split new boat displays between the Miami Beach Convention Center, in Miami Beach and the Sea Line Marina, across the bay in Miami, and the traffic, long shuttle rides and the logistics of moving between venues to see boats were as much a part of the Miami Show “experience” as the boats themselves.
Dammrich also noted that sailboats–the Strictly Sail Miami at Miamarina Bayside– would still be displayed at Bayside in Miami. The NMMA has arranged for water taxi service between the new Miami Marine Basin location and Bayside.
Boating spoke to Dammrich at length about the show and will continue to update boaters with information about changes for one of the most prestigious and popular “destination boat shows” for boaters, in the coming weeks and months. The Progressive Miami Interational Boat Show is, historically, the event at which many of the new boat models make their debut every year. As such, it is highly anticipated –and activity surrounding watched–by both boaters, and the boating press.
The 2016 Progressive Miami International Boat Show is slated run February 11-16, 2016
