“Go boldly but go clean” could be Mercury Marine’s motto. The company’s commitment to sustainability has earned it the Green Masters designation from the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council for the seventh consecutive year. Earning the Green Master designation places Mercury among the top 20 percent of the approximately 200 participating companies. In 2017, Mercury received a sustainability score of 643 points, well above the necessary mark required to retain its Green Master status.

The Green Masters Program measures companies on a broad range of sustainability issues ranging from energy and water conservation to waste management, community outreach and education.

“We emphasize sustainability in everything we do, from our processes to our people, and it takes a commitment from all 6,200 global employees to meet and exceed our goals,” says Scott Louks, Mercury Marine sustainability and facilities project-management manager. “We have robust plans for the future, and I’m confident that we will continue to lead the way in the marine industry and effect significant growth in sustainability.”

Mercury Marine recently released its 2017 Sustainability Report, which details the company’s progress toward its key pillars of energy, environment, products and people. The report highlights fuel-efficient products and water- and energy-conservation milestones, and features a brand-new solar-panel roof at Mercury’s EMEA headquarters. Additionally, the report shows that, in each of the major categories of its sustainability initiative, Mercury has met or exceeded its goals.
