Bermuda Challenge Update

Fertig, Garvin accept award for record.

Fertig & Garvin Bermuda Challenge

On Thursday, February 14, 2013, Chris Fertig and Tyson Garvin were presented the award for their record-setting Bermuda Challenge run. Boating Editor-In-Chief, Kevin Falvey, presented the award at the 2013 Miami International Boat Show.

Fertig and Garvin made the 680-mile run from New York to Bermuda in 21 hours 9 minutes, aboard their Mercury Diesel Powered Statement Marine 37 SUV.

The record run was the second for the duo, who were thwarted by a vicious storm and huge seas during their 2011 attempt.

The record set by Fertig and Garvin was short-lived. Seven weeks later, Fabio Buzzi ran the Bermuda Challenge in 17 hours, 6 minutes. In the wake of Buzzi’s run, the pair were gracious, offering congratulations to Buzzi and his crew.

They also said: “We’ll be back.”

Stay Tuned.
