Bimini Big Game Club Launches Holiday Boat Parade

Bimini Big Game Club to host first annual holiday boat parade.

Guy Harvey Outpost announced today plans to inaugurate a new holiday tradition in Bimini to precede the island’s traditional New Year’s Junkanoo celebration. The Bimini Big Game Club, A Guy Harvey Outpost will host the first annual Bimini Boat Parade and Pool Party on New Year’s Eve.

The Bimini Boat Parade will start at 7:30 PM from the Club’s docks. Boats will sail north past Alice Town, up through Porgey Bay and then return for a down harbour sail to the tip of south Bimini, returning to the Club docks for a New Years Eve Pool Party with music by Mango Man, whose island and calypso sounds will continue until midnight. Complimentary champagne toasts will cap off the Club’s festivities, welcoming in the new decade, just as Junkanoo takes to the streets of Alice Town.

The parade’s flagship boat will be the Club’s new 60 ft. M/V Bimini Blue, decked out with holiday lights for the festivities. Charles “Sofely” Robins, the Bahamas Tourism manager for Bimini will be the Grand Marshall. The Club will be awarding prizes for the best decoration and light display.

“What’s Christmas in the islands without a boat parade,” noted Grand Cayman Island resident Guy Harvey, the celebrated artist, marine scientist and conservation authority, who along with a group of like-minded partners re-opened the historic Big Game Club following a multi-million-dollar renovation this summer. “This year we turned the lights back on in Bimini, so it’s really time to celebrate”, added Mark Ellert, President of Guy Harvey Outpost Resorts. “There’s no cost to join in and the parade is open to anyone with a boat, big or small, resident or visitor.”

Seventy-five VIP tickets have been set aside for revelers wishing to join the Grand Marshall aboard the lead boat for music, dancing and open bar. Also included with the ticket are complimentary Fishtales and Cocktails at 5 p.m., followed by a pre-parade dinner in the Bimini Big Game Bar and Grill. “This is yet another way to celebrate the return of the Big Game Club, along with our plan to bring tournament fishing back to Bimini on May 18th with the Billfish Invitational,” said Bill Shedd, partner in Guy Harvey Outpost and trustee of the prestigious IGFA along with Guy Harvey. “The Big Game is on. We’re just adding a New Year’s Party to our top-of-class Outpost pursuits!”
