News: Beneteaus’ Great Loop Adventure Starts Tomorrow
Beneteau is taking its 34 Swift Trawler on a 7,000 mile adventure, which starts in Annapolis, Maryland, tomorrow. The journey, which Beneteau is calling “The Greatest Loop” is taking the boat through the Great Lakes system, down the Mississippi River, around Florida and back up to Annapolis by September. We’ll be doing some in-depth before and after coverage so stay tuned.

News: California To Eliminate Department of Boating and Waterways?
In a move that may negatively impact California’s recreational boaters, Governor Jerry Brown has proposed eliminating the Department of Boating and Waterways and folding it into Parks and Recreation. It would be a shame if the $69 million a year collected from boat registration fees and fuel taxes doesn’t get put back into launch ramps, marine enforcement, and other important projects the boaters paying for it would want.

News: Time To Prep For Hurricane Season
Officials are predicting a below-normal season in terms of hurricane activity for 2012, but that doesn’t mean you should let your guard down. According to this article from WLOX in Biloxi, Mississippi, that still means 10 to 12 named storms. And it only takes one headed your way to change from a good storm season to a really bad one. Outside of your house and property, have a preparedness plan for your boat.
