During our test, it tracked so easily at idle that we could steer with our knee and jot notes with a pencil. Stashing the notebook and punching the throttle, it tipped to plane in just 3.9 seconds. More telling was the 7.7-second time to 30 mph. Top speed? It was 54.7 mph. The best part was the boat’s attitude on the water: There was very little bow rise at the hole shot, and it handled like a dream at wide-open throttle. During hard-over turns, the GTS 205 came around sweetly as we fed in more and more throttle and rudder.
