Pursuit OS 375

Armed and armored.

Pursuit has a reputation for building yacht-class fishboats, and the new OS 375 enhances that credo — with some new twists. This express cruiser comes loaded, all the way down to the vents that blow air conditioning into the cockpit, keeping the skipper comfortable even while he’s standing out in the open air.

An 8kW diesel generator is standard as are a couple of refrigerator/freezers mounted in the cockpit in place of the more traditional, plain insulated fishboxes. There’s an electric grill in the cockpit, and freshwater and saltwater washdowns are plumbed forward as well as in the stern. That’s in addition to the hot and cold transom shower.

The OS 375 is big and beamy at 13′ wide. However, when I dropped the hammer on the triple 350-hp Yamaha F350 outboards, it shot out of the hole like a flying fish, belying its 17,600-pound dry weight. Top end is 54.3 mph. The package lists for $479,925 with the triple big-blocks.

This may be a case where triples are overkill. Still, our test boat delivered impressive performance, but fuel consumption was equally impressive, reaching 103.8 gph at 6000 rpm and 54.3 mph. At cruise, the OS 375 approaches some level of efficiency at 3500 rpm, making 28.2 mph and burning 31.8 gph. If you’re willing to sacrifice some speed, the OS 375 with twin F350s runs 45.5 mph and burns just 67.6 gph, per Pursuit.

The plush cabin furnishings and upholstery are top shelf. Included are a head with separate shower stall, stainless-steel galley appliances, an adult-sized aft berth, and a forward berth with a hanging locker. Plus, the fishing amenities are all there — total hardcore — along with comfort. These include a hardtop with rocket launchers, 50-gallon livewell, tackle stowage, and the abovementioned pair of refrigerated fishboxes.

Overall, the OS 375 is a remarkable example of the amenities and fishability that can be packed into fewer than 40′. It’s sure to be as attractive to those who are downsizing from a big sportfish to those moving up from a walkaround.
