We Say: From bow to stern, and from keel to optional arch, this lavish bowrider shares many amenities with large cruising boats.
The richly upholstered bow lounge boasts armrests for added comfort and security. At the helm, I discovered gauges rung with chrome bezels set into a double-stitched leather console that looks great and, by virtue of its saddle brown color, creates no windshield glare. I didn’t like the placement of the optional GPS. It’s mounted too close to the wheel, and my hand hit it several times while maneuvering. The portside head is lighted and its floor, or sole, features a draining fiberglass pan, and sports nearly four feet of headroom.
The aft lounge’s centerline walkway grants crew easy passage between the swim platform and the cockpit. A semicircular lounge, along with dedicated cooler stowage and a wet bar, affirms the 250 SLX’s potential as an entertainment platform. As for the optional fiberglass and aluminum water-sports tower, with integral Bimini top and lighting, I say go for it. It looks great and provides more shade and better quality sound.
The 300 hp MerCruiser 350 Mag MPI Bravo Three powered the 250 SLX to nearly 45 mph, and accelerated it with authority. So powered, and with its 75-gallon fuel tank, the 250 SLX would be my preferred ride to a swanky bed-and-breakfast for the weekend.
Who’d Want One: If your car is a Land Rover or an Infinity, this is your boat.
