Everything from the hull to the bling has been taken up a notch on the new Launch 21V. For 2009, the cockpit has been widened and deepened. This plays directly into the crossover needs of recreational boaters who value space for themselves, safety for the kids and towing technology. The wider beam also allowed the seats to gain noticeable width, something our taller testers found noteworthy, because this comfort is so rare.
We could review the Launch 21V strictly as a luxury day boat. But we could also report it as a tricked-out ride dedicated to wakeboarding. The three-tank ballast system adds several hundred pounds of water weight in less than four minutes, and our drivers had the luxury of using the Perfect Pass Wakeboard Pro speed control and SmartPlate Wake Adjustment systems. We used both from a driver’s seat that’s been recentered in front of a lower instrument panel and is within reach of the controls to a sound system that’s made to kick from a four-channel amp. First time off the trailer, the boat is ready to provide “epic sessions,” as top riders like to say.
