Doing Water Sports At Any Age

Your age is just a number if you keep fit and keep at skiing, surfing and wakeboarding.

Tow Sport Workouts

If you think your best years for being active are behind you, then think again. Growing Bolder TV features adults who go beyond the typical to succeed and live their dreams. For them it’s not about age but about having the right attitude. Check out the segment “I Have No Age” that Growing Bolder TV (video below) did on me during the summer of 2012 to see what I do on the water as a competitive barefoot water skier at 50. Water skiing has been a big part of my life since 1975 and today I’m a big advocate of doing tow sports to improve your fitness no matter what age. Tow sports are perfect for the entire family as all ages can and do participate recreationally. There are even local, regional, national and international competitions for all age groups for men and women. So get behind your boat and try one or several of the tow sports. Riding two water skis, slalom, wakeboard, wake surf and barefoot are great ways to improve cardio and to increase strength throughout the body. But there’s more: Not only do tow sports give you a great work out, you’ll also get the ultimate work out while having a lot of fun learning a new skill behind your boat. No doubt doing tow sports keeps you smiling and feeling younger. To learn more, check out “Fit to be Towed” in the October 2012 issue of Boating magazine, or click here, and see you on the water.
