Evinrude E-TEC G2 Powers big wins over the weekend

Evinrude ETEC G2 Outboard wins big
Bryan Thrift, Evinrude professional angler wins big.

**STURTEVANT, Wis., May 18, 2015 **– Team Evinrude’s Bryan Thrift proved Lake Eufaula suits his style of fishing by hauling a final-day catch of five bass weighing 15 pounds, 5 ounces for a four-day total of 69-14 and a 2-pound, 15-ounce margin to clinch the win. Thrift beat out 149 of the best bass-fishing anglers in the world and claimed the first place prize of $125,000.

“Lake Eufaula is one of my favorite spots to fish,” said Thrift, a Team Evinrude angler. “I knew I could go anywhere on the lake, and the Evinrude® E-TEC® G2™”would get me there and back. This tournament, my practice time was critical to my success. I spent several hours daily on the water and would never shut off my E-TEC G2. Dependability like this is extremely important to me. It was a great weekend, and I had fun battling with some of my fellow Evinrude pros.”

Thrift’s win moved him up to second place in the 2015 FLW Tour Angler of the Year race with just two tournaments left.

Thrift wasn’t the only Evinrude angler tipping the scales this weekend. Brothers Cory and Chris Johnston made history with their win at the Sturgeon Bay Open Bass Tournament with the closest finish in tournament history. The top two teams each registered 12 fish over the two-day event and the difference between first and second place was one one-hundredth of a pound.

The Canadian brothers are not strangers to the Wisconsin waters: 5- and 6- pound fish are standard fare for the tournament. In the pair’s home region, 4-pounders win tournaments, so the brothers regularly make the annual trek to Sturgeon Bay for big fish.

“At Evinrude, we love weekends like this when Evinrude anglers make their mark on the tournament,” said Krista Heidgerken, senior communications specialist for Evinrude. “This weekend was especially worth it when we heard our team made big wins at two esteemed tournaments. We’re happy to see the unrivaled performance of the Evinrude E-TEC G2 gave Bryan and the Johnston brothers the power and performance they needed to compete from blast off to weigh in. Evinrude will continue to be a partner in their success.”
