For performance boaters looking to get out of the cold, Florida Powerboat Club is bringing back its Winter Poker Run to the Florida Keys. The new Hyatt Place Faro Blanco Resort is hosting the event and the organizers have opened up the run to air, land and sea vehicles. Owners with large yachts can even participate thanks to the dockage available at the Faro Blanco Marina & Yacht Club. The club will televise the run on its Powerboating In Paradise TV series on the Sunsports network.
The schedule is as follows. On Friday, January 29, participants pick up Card #1 and depart from Grove Harbour Marina in Coconut Grove, Fla. The first stop is for lunch at Gilberts in Key Largo, Fla., where the teams pick up Card #2. Then it’s off to the Hyatt Place Faro Blanco Resort for the evening. On Saturday, the boats pick up another card and takes off at noon for a fun run and aerial photo session near the famous Seven Mile Bridge. At 1 p.m. the fleet arrives at Hawks Cay Resort for lunch and a playing card. At 3 p.m., it’s time to return to the resort. Finally on Sunday, the boats depart Faro Blanco Marina with a lunch stop at Postcard Inn in Islamorada, Fla., before returning to Coconut Grove for the conclusion.
