Livorsi Marine GPS Speedometer

Installation details and commentary.
Livorsi Marine Speedo

Due to circumstances beyond my control, my project 1986 Stoker 26 Super Sport Tunnel with twin 1996 Mercury Hi-Performance 2.5 EFI Offshore outboards never made it to the water in the summer of 2014. As I wrote previously, I installed all the Livorsi Marine instruments, including the 100 mph GPS speedometer with a recall switch. It replaced the old-school Gaffrig speedometer and transom-mounted pitot tube.

Eric Colby installed and will test this new GPS speedometer aboard his own performance boat.

What an easy installation. With the left-hand helm, I mounted the GPS antenna on the mounting stud for the port midships cleat with a nylon-lined backing nut. Because of the dash-panel thickness, I had to install the recall switch along the port-side gunwale so I can reach it easily when I want to check my top speed after a run. Wiring was straightforward. Using heat-shrink butt connectors, I followed the easily deciphered instructions to power the gauge and recall switches, and the red back lighting is easy on the eyes at night. I’ll have an update in spring 2015 when I get the boat on the water. Until then, check out www.livorsi.com.
