In honor of the passing of Jo Nunez, this month’s Blast from the Past is the 24-foot Pantera V-bottom. This versatile boat helped launch the offshore racing careers of well-known competitors, including Scotty Begovich, throttleman for Miss Geico. Thirty-seven years ago, Jo’s father Pepe and Ralph Linero set a new record from Miami to New York for outboard-powered boats in a 24-foot Pantera powered by twin Mercury Hi-Performance 2.4 Offshore outboards.
