Going Fast For a Cure

Racer's record-setting speed run around Long Island, New York, raises over $65,000 for cancer research.

The record-setting Recovery Racing

Recovery Racing

Back in August, we reported on how Stuart Hayim–a luxury car dealer and cancer survivor–set a new powerboat speed record for circling Long Island.

Last week Hayim capped off the fundraising at a dinner attended by several New York Jets, where he brought the total donations from his record run to over $65,000. All donations go directly to the Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation.

As for the record, Hayim circled Long Island in his 41-foot MTI Recovery Racing in a time of 2 hours and 11 minutes. So that means he brought in close to five hundreds dollars for cancer research for every minute on the water. Amazing what a fast boat can do.
