Adding a Wake Boat to the List
Some of the most technologically advanced engine and control systems are found aboard inboard tow boats.

I am most fortunate to have had the opportunity to run a long list of great and iconic powerboats. I’ve fished classics such as the Bertram 31, the Hatteras 41 and the Merritt 37. I’ve pushed the throttles deep into the corner aboard boats such as the Donzi Sweet 16, the venerable Wellcraft Scarab 38 KV, and the Magnum 53. I’ve been lucky enough to cruise aboard an Albin 25 Double Cabin, a Grand Banks 36, and a 55-foot Chris-Craft Constellation (a.k.a, a “Connie”). I shredded coves riding a stand-up PWC made by Kawasaki and that actually, really, truly is called a Jet Ski. A 13-foot Whaler with a blue interior? Check.

This is just the short list and every one of these boats is special because, in its respective niche, it just plain does—or did– most things better than the other boats in that niche. Now I am adding another to the list. Malibu’s Wakesetter 23 LSV. We’ll be bringing you our full report of this boat soon, and some great videos of this boat are in production as I type this post. For now, enjoy the teaser gallery of snapshots from this week’s photoshoot that I’ve included above.

Takeaway: There is no perfect boat. But there are boats that are perfect for specific individuals at a specific time in their lives
