As the Florida Keys recover from the impact of a direct hit by Hurricane Irma, Super Boat International (SBI) announced on September 18 that it intends to go forward and present its 37th Annual Key West World Championship offshore powerboat races as scheduled for November 5-12 in Key West.

“We are going to race in Key West as scheduled and we have a lot to do before then,” said SBI President John Carbonell. “Like everyone else here in the Keys, we were also affected… so we are all in this together. The people of Florida Keys and Key West are resilient and want to show the world … that in hard times we can work together and make things happen.”

In a statement Super Boat International said it looks forward to seeing fans and teams again very soon and wishes everyone affected by Irma, a quick recovery. We will see you all in Key West this year for the Key West World Championship.
