There’s an expression you’ll hear that say truth to power and, in the case of boating and boaters, it’s all about horsepower. There’s no better venue to see the world’s latest and greatest propulsion choices, all in one place, than the 2018 Miami International Boat Show. Here’s a look at 10 engine displays to check out this year.
Mercury Marine
Mercury is debuting its brand new 3.4L, V6 outboard engine lineup at the show. The new engines, coming in 175, 200 and 225 hp packages. These engines are exceptionally light, with improved torque and fuel efficiency. The cowl “service” door makes routine maintenance far easier, especially daily oil checks. Also see the new Mercury Racing sterndrives and Mercury XS150 outboard.

Suzuki

Torqeedo
Don’t forget about electric power. We’re particularly interested in the company’s Deep Blue electric outboards that range from 40-80hp and can be rigged on small boats in single or twin configurations.

Yanmar Marine
Yanmar is introducing the world’s smallest common rail diesel inboard, the new Yanmar 3JH40. It’s a 3-cylinder engine with a 1.642 L displacement and produces 40-hp.

Volvo Penta
Volvo Penta is offering a look at its D13, the largest recreational marine offering to date is an incredibly innovative 1,000 hp unit that Volvo will typically pair with pod drives. Stop by to see it at the show and read our comprehensive review here.

Honda Marine
Honda is offering opportunities to check out its BF75, BF90 and BF100 outboards. These new engines boast a sleeker design and easy maintenance features, providing excellent mid-range power. We already had a chance to run these engines, which you can read about here.

Ilmore Marine

Seven Marine
