The Florida Powerboat Club will be holding its Miami Boat Show Poker Run over four days from February 23-26. This event is designed for performance boaters and sport cruisers, and many manufacturers and dealers participate as featured sponsors, which means many new models are actually on display at the Poker Run Village for anyone who missed the boats at the Miami Boat Show.
A two-day departure format gives participants four days of cruising over the long weekend. Departures from Grove Harbour Marina and the Courtyard by Marriott will be daily at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday after a continental breakfast that starts at 8 a.m. There will be lunch stops at Gilbert’s in Key Largo every day at noon, and Faro Blanco Resort in Islamorada is the host location. There’s a cocktail party Friday night on the beach. On Saturday, there are fun runs to various destinations in the Keys, including Hawks Cay (50-mile round-trip), Marathon (70-mile round-trip) and Key West (170-mile round-trip.) There will be aerial photo shoots for each fun run.
On Saturday night, the poker hands will be drawn at the Awards and Sponsor Appreciation Party that includes dinner. It starts at 6:30 p.m. and runs until 11 p.m.
The $750 registration fee covers the boat, a captain and first mate. It includes room and dockage reservations; function passes for the captain and crew member for the dockside breakfast, lunch at Gilbert’s and Saturday night awards; a poker-run hand and two T-shirts. Extra crew passes are $150 each.
