The Coast Guard Auxiliary and the BoatU.S. Foundation released a state of the art online interactive navigation course known as Modern Marine Navigation. The Coast Guard Auxiliary, America’s largest volunteer boating safety education organization, partnered with the BoatU.S. Foundation to develop an online education course that provides the recreational boater with a comprehensive navigation training program. The program has been approved by the Coast Guard Navigation Center and is now available to the public via the Coast Guard Auxiliary website at www.cgaux.org/mmn.

Mark Simoni, National Commodore, Coast Guard Auxiliary, spoke at the Coast Guard Auxiliary National Training Conference in St. Louis, January 2016. Commodore Simoni referenced the significance of the online course as a clear step by the Coast Guard Auxiliary to extend recreational boating safety education to the growing segment of boaters who prefer to receive their education online rather than in a face-to-face environment.
