Lowe SS210 Super Sport

For years Lowe’s 21-foot pontoon platform has been one of its most popular. It offers a smooth, secure ride and plenty of seating, thanks to its 8-foot-6-inch beam. But the SS210 Super Sport features enhanced style and performance for 2014.

Lowe brought the rails outside the skin and styled them for beauty, fastening the panels with hardware and adhesive to keep them sturdy and silent. The look is ornate, and inside, it eliminates dead space behind the furniture backs.

Lowe also introduced new furniture colors such as Grand Cayman tan with accent hues throughout. The colors coordinate perfectly with the exterior finish to make the boat even more appealing to family and friends.

For durability and a great ride, there is a larger aluminum motor pod. It allows for a bigger fuel tank, enhancing range. A center log increases lift and capacity, making for more fun for large crews. Pontoons are fastened on 24-inch centers to cross members, and a sturdy pressure-treated plywood deck is securely fastened to them.

In our tests, the SS210 ran at a maximum speed of 37.4 mph, and its 25-inch-diameter pontoons sliced through the water smoothly with little spray. Acceleration to 20 mph took less than three seconds, and time to 30 was 7.8. A three-spoke wheel and 4:1 no-feedback steering gave us ample control of the high horsepower engine.

The interior layout features a starboard-bow chaise lounge, stern L-group seating, vinyl-wrapped seat bases, a barrel helm seat with slider and a round table with drink holders. A sun pad offers spacious, comfortable lounging. If the sun becomes too intense, a heavy-duty 9-foot Bimini top with a protective boot provides plenty of shade for everyone on board. The cover also has quick disconnects if you’re sure you won’t want it. The fittings are designed to prevent pinched fingers.

The fiberglass-reinforced acrylic console is equipped with full instrumentation and a windscreen with easy disconnects for cleaning. Lowe is clearly not new to pontoons and has your boating bases covered.
