Princecraft Vantage 25 XT

An inspired layout combines with surprising performance potential.

The Vantage 25 XT we tested sported the Performance Package, a three-log system including lifting strakes. So equipped, we hurtled to near 35 mph with just 150 of the 225 horses for which it’s rated. It accelerated to 30 mph in less than eight seconds, and it’s built to take all the speed and power you dish out.

Z-bar cross-bracing extends under the side rails, preventing the tendency to sag with time. Dolphin-shaped nose cones grace the forward ends of the pressurized, bulkheaded tubes. Sturdy 1¼-inch anodized rails, a V-shaped engine pod and full-length skirting are other enhancements.

The Vantage 25 XT’s layout also impressed us. Side-by-side helm chairs allow skipper and mate to share the experience yet still have their own space. Aft-facing couches bookend a large deck space and the centerline transom-access gate. The ski tow bar on the swim platform provides safety as well as function. Two seats on the platform corners create what Princecraft calls “The Fun Zone.”

There’s more to the story. A cooler built into the attractive helm console, baitwell options and a privacy-providing changing room that pops up from near the side boarding gate complete this rugged, spirited and versatile pontoon’s layout.
