Sealine SC42

Bold and innovative describe Sealine’s new SC42. This express cruiser utilizes the same mold as its larger sistership, the C48. There are obvious advantages to using one mold for two different vessels. And they don’t all fall on the side of efficiency for the manufacturer. On the plus side for the SC42 is the extra room you get because it has the wider beam of the C48. Sealine makes maximum use of this with its full-beam cockpit design. This arrangement transforms at the touch of a button from a daytime lounging area with a sun bed for casual enjoyment to a formal setting for evening dining on a plush settee served by a table.

Another advantage of the wider beam is the walk-around side-deck access, which makes line handling, docking and anchoring safer and easier. Many manufacturers will forgo the side-deck access in favor of more interior volume, but not Sealine. When you do your testing in the lively waters of England’s Solent, as Sealine does, you go into the design process with a salty philosophy that prioritizes safety over cabin amenities.

Belowdecks, the SC42’s layout is conducive to live-aboard cruising with a dual head and cabin configuration. These spaces are nicely appointed with quality equipment and furnishings. However, abovedecks the SC42 also provides an enhanced cruising experience. The sliding cockpit roof opens electrically. Also open the side windows and you can really feel a part of the sun and sea. Close them all up for cruising in weather-protected, climate-controlled comfort.

How does it handle under way? Sealine worked closely with Volvo Penta to design the SC42 (and C48) so that it benefited from the IPS pod-drive system. Even seasoned boat handlers will be amazed at how effortless it is to maneuver in tight quarters.

A new philosophy is clearly afoot at Sealine, and one that centers on ease and comfort. It starts with the push-button roof and settee controls that can quickly change your driving environment from cozy ambience to open-air adventure and extends to the well-designed IPS pod-drive system for ease in handling.
