The Sunsation lineup is one of Premier’s most popular pontoon offerings, and our test drive of the 250 Sunsation RF made it easy to see why. The RF in the model name stands for rear facing, which refers directly to the seats in the aft section of the boat with rear-facing recliner backs. These allow for two passengers to kick back and face the action behind the boat during a tow-sports session or just relax and soak in the rays at rest. Otherwise, the Signature Series seats serve as couches where friends and family can sit and socialize.

The socialization continues forward with two more great couches with ample stowage in the roto-molded seat bases underneath. Premier offers an alternative DL Group floor plan allowing for twin bucket seats to port rather than opposing couches. When the crew are ready to take a dip off the extended swim platform, they can find the Mirage changing station under one of the couch cushions. It pulls out in one fluid motion, and the curtain pops up for easy use. It’s also incredibly easy to fold back under the seat, so you won’t have to conduct a wrestling match to close it.

Our 250 Sunsation RF came with the PTX performance package, which for this boat includes a 30-inch center tube. The PTX package paired with the 200 hp Mercury Pro FourStroke helped our boat pop onto plane in 2.5 seconds while sprinting to 30 mph in 7.9 seconds and reaching a comfortable top speed of nearly 40 mph. From the helm, the driver will note that the PTX package helps the boat run in smooth and predictable fashion while executing hard-over turns. The Caliber helm is well-appointed with easy-to-read inset gauges and a sporty “Hawk III” steering wheel. The driver sits in a high-back executive captain’s chair, as does the designated spotter to port. They’re just two of the many comfortable seats on board with great views.
