Since this newsletter comes out at the end of March, you have just about a month until one of the performance-boat industry’s biggest events, the Desert Storm Poker Run in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, April 22-25.
What started as a small local event 17 years ago has grown into one of the most important events in the go-fast world. It starts on Wednesday with the Annual Kruisin’ for Kids. Underprivileged and special-needs children from all over Arizona get to take rides in some of the high-performance boats that will be in town. On Thursday, the Desert Storm Street Party has become a must-attend for manufacturers who want to show off their best products. Friday brings the poker run, which showcases an amazing fleet of 100 mph-plus boats stopping at Havasu Springs, Havasu Landing, Thompson Bay, Black Meadow Landing and Crazy Horse Campground. New on Friday night is the Power in the Park Beach Party, and the event wraps up with the Desert Storm Shootout on Saturday morning. Thirty classes of boats will be vying to be the fastest on a closed 2-mile course. For more information go to www.lakeracerllc.com.
