Longtime offshore powerboat racing promoter and sanctioning body Superboat International will put on two new events in 2016. This gives the group a six-race regular season for national points in addition to the annual three-race competition at the end of the season in Key West, to crown world champions.
The first new race is the Mentor Super Boat Grand Prix. It will be held in Mentor, Ohio, on the weekend of August 26. New York native, and 2015 Superboat World Champion, Billy Mauff, is spearheading the effort for the second new event. This event will be called the Port Jefferson Superboat Grand Prix. This even will be held in Port Jefferson, New York, with racing conducted on Long Island Sound. The dates are TBA.
