Editors Note: In an exclusive interview, Boating learned that this new system will be formally introduced to the public at the upcoming Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show and be available for public demonstration at the 2013 Miami Boat Show. Look for Boating’s test of Joystick Piloting soon.
Mercury Marine’s remarkable Joystick Piloting for Outboards was displayed within the company’s extensive 2013 Precision Rigging lineup at the International Boatbuilders Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), Oct. 2-4 in Louisville, Kentucky.
2013 will provide one of Mercury’s largest “rigging product” launches in several years.
“We’re touching nearly every Mercury on the dash with new designs, new innovative user interfaces and enhanced features to bring new benefits to end-users and boat builders,” said Ben Duke, general manager of Mercury Precision Rigging.
“Every member of the team brought great ideas to the table, from our industrial design team working with Navico to the engineering team that took every out-of-the-box idea and brought it to life.”
Mercury’s new-product lineup at IBEX will include:
•Mercury Joystick Piloting for Outboards
•The next generation of Mercury VesselView
•New console-mounted Electronic Remote Controls (single and dual handle)
•Mercury Marine Ship’s Log iPhone app
