Starcraft dubs the SCX a “crossover” model. Viewed from above, its rectangular profile displays the roomy styling of a deck boat. Viewed at the dock, a runabout or wakeboard boat comes to mind. That bow space is compliments of a pickle-fork design that increases passenger room forward. Aft, an L-shaped lounge is mirrored by a rear-facing bench across the transom. The latter is a choice spot to get ready to ride the boat’s wakes. When lounging, the seat’s shared backrests fold down to form a sun pad.

Both the main and bow cockpit are deeper than the norm, offering a sense of security out on the water. An innovative bow layout features four corner seats, nestled nicely around a removable cockpit table. Add a filler cushion or two, and those seats turn into the twin lounges typical of most bowriders. A fiberglass galley and port-console head compartment tend to a variety of needs on
the water.

Starcraft’s optional Sport Package ($8,595) gives the boat a decided wake influence, adding a tow-sports tower, Bimini top, tower speakers, wakeboard racks, and Sport furniture and graphics. Our test boat was equipped with a MerCruiser 350 MAG MPI and Bravo Three drive. The combination pushed this 3,700-pound boat onto plane in 4 seconds, and peaked at 49 mph.
