The Coasties selected FLIR M-series forward looking infrared imaging technology to assist them in emergency response and search and rescue. With the M-series devices, infrared imaging lets them cut through the dark to see items as small as a coconut at a distance. The FLIR system's gimbal is gyro stabilized to keep a steady image on the MFD's in Coast Guard boats and Cutters.

We've had a chance to view dark boating scenes through FLIR technology and some of our editors would choose the new M100 or M200 specifically designed to provide night vision for recreational boats. Don't pass up a chance to check it out at your marine retailer.
