Boating Contributor Will Be on the “Growing Bolder” PBS Show

Zenon Bilas shows through his barefoot waterskiing that 50 is a number not an age.

Zenon Growing Bolder

In his youth, Zenon Bilas was a world champion barefoot waterskier. Today, at 50 years, old he still skis at a high level, is a world-class instructor, and doesn’t look much different than he did 30 years ago. This is why the national television show called Growing Bolder decided to profile him for an upcoming episode. The show’s tagline is, “It’s not about age, it’s about attitude.” Here’s what Zenon had to say about the experience:

“They asked me how at 50, I got into shape to barefoot at the level that I am. They asked about my day and I told them that I coach, train and write and do photography for magazines. They saw me do barefoot slalom (which is crossing the boat’s wake backwards and forwards and on one foot for extra points. I said I was ranked number 1 in the world in barefoot slalom in 1985 and that I don’t see any reason that I can’t get back to that score.”

Zenon actually wrote an article about how participating in tow sports can keep you in shape, and feeling young, which will run in an upcoming issue of the magazine. It’s a great example for all of us to stay fit and keep on doing what we’re doing, be it fishing, cruising, or barefoot waterskiing.
