Malibu’s Wakesetter 20 MXZ is the smallest of the wide-nose boats in Malibu’s line, but it still has all the bells and whistles of the bigger boats as well as uncommonly high sport performance. This boat is for anyone who needs plenty of wake potential and bow space in a size that will fit in a standard garage.
The dash was introduced last year to wide acclaim, and we’re still floored by it in 2016. There are two screens: one for essential operating functions and another for fine-tuning the boat to your specifications. Opt for the Sport Package to get an analog multi-axis switch that controls the functions you use the most without having to dive into the touchscreen. Surf Gate lets you surf either side without moving people or ballast, and the Power Wedge adds mass to your wake, dials in the running attitude, and lifts the stern on take off for quicker hole shots. New for 2016, there’s a Surf Band as well, which lets the surfer adjust the speed, side and Power Wedge without ever communicating with the driver. The tech-forward G4 tower is a huge step up from the G3 and worth the upgrade. It has a simple lock function, fold assist, integrated wiring, and a honeycomb internal structure for the ultimate in rigidity and a sharp profile.
