2019 Regal LS4 Surf

Regal's LS4 Surf is a luxury-minded bowrider that offers fantastic watersports capabilities.

Regal continues to expand on their “power of choice” concept by offering the LS4 in a surf-friendly package powered by Volvo Penta’s Forward Drive. The choice continues to push wakesurfing beyond the inboard market, while retaining all the features of this luxury-minded bowrider.

Forward Drive makes surfing safer by positioning the prop safely under the hull. Regal’s Surf System does the rest, combining wake-shaping tabs with 2,000 pounds of water ballast contained within collapsible bags plumbed into three of the LS4 Surf’s storage compartments. The touchscreen display covers all of the above, controlling the filling of ballast, position of the tabs and desired speed.

When not in surf mode, Forward Drive continues to pay dividends. Directional thrust provides nimble handling in both forward and reverse. The ability to trim increases top speed and adjusts the boat for conditions or load. Volvo Penta’s 350 hp V-8 almost instantly pushed the LS4 onto plane. Top speed approached the 53 mph mark. Forward Drive also proved efficient — at 28 mph the LS4 consumed as little as 8 gallons per hour.

That the LS4 is a luxury model is evident almost immediately upon entering the cockpit. Cockpit seat backs feature large chrome grab rails to offer security while underway or when boarding. Lumbar insets in a diamond pattern and piping that matches the hull color enhance the boat’s visual appeal. Stainless-steel caps are found on both the windshield corners and transom hull corners. Twin Volvo Penta touchscreen displays highlight a clean minimalist dash.

Seating reflects Regal’s typical versatility. Aft seats form a segment of the wraparound U-shaped bench in the main cockpit. Backrests pivot back for cockpit conversation underway or forward for swim-platform relaxation. Both helm and passenger seat backs also pivot to match how you’re using the boat at any given moment. Bow seating invites stretching out to feel the breeze. Nearly all cushions lift on gas struts to reveal plentiful stowage below. Raised lips exclude rain and washdown water to keep contents dry.
