Make Cribbing

Just one of several options to use when storing your boat.
Tip of the Month October

Boat stands should be used to balance the boat. During storage, the weight of the boat should be born by the keel. This can done using cement blocks with wood atop them, by buying keel stands, or you can make “cribbing” out of 4” x 4” lumber as shown. Toe-nailed together, these provide great support, are lighter and easier to position than blocks, and won’t mar your boat. Place cribbing or blocks every 10 feet starting at the transom—and try to align them with structural bulkheads or transverse members inside the boat.
