Bermuda Challenge 2012 Update

Fertig Waiting, Watching Weather

We talked to Chris Fertig today and the intrepid skipper is poring over forecasts looking for a weather window to make his second attempt at the Bermuda Challenge. Last year, Fertig’s and crew, aboard their Cummins-Mercruiser Powered Statement Marine 37, were forced to abort the Challenge attempt due to a quick moving system that built seas in excess of fifteen feet.

Fertig said current forecast models project acceptable sea conditions for the week of June 4.

Once he departs you can track Fertig’s perilous, high-speed, high seas run via mapping and live video streaming here.
